GLOBAL BUSINESS LANGUAGES
CALL FOR PAPERS 2009
Global Business Languages is an annual publication containing articles on issues related to foreign languages, and English as a Second Language, taught for specific purposes (business, science, hotel and restaurant, law, etc.). We encourage submissions of manuscripts pertaining to Chinese, English for non-natives, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish research, and others. All articles must be written in English, with foreign language examples as needed.
We encourage authors submitting articles for the 2009 volume to address the theme of borders and frontiers as these boundaries relate to global business practices and the languages necessitated by international and intercultural transactions. Possible topics include whether borders and frontiers act as barriers or opportunities, or both, and how the challenges they represent can be addressed. Language instructors may be interested in exploring ways in which students and business leaders can transcend local borders to bring about effective communication. Others may wish to examine various programs, technologies, legislation, or business procedures that have reduced previous frontiers between nations.
Submission Requirements
Please submit two blind copies of your article (maximum length 20 double-spaced pages, including notes and bibliography) in the most recent Chicago or MLA style. Please use the author-short title, and not the author-date reference style. Include information on where you can be reached: mailing and e-mail addresses plus home, work, and fax numbers.
Abstracts cannot be considered. One submission per author.
All papers will be refereed. SASE for return of manuscripts.
