CHNS 301/H--Chinese Level V           Wann Ai-jen
 (3 credits; three hrs/wk; MWF  11:30)
 
Continued work on Mandarin Chinese (prerequisite: CHNS level IV or equivalent).
 

CHNS 241--Introduction to the Study of Chinese Literature      Wann Ai-jen
 (3 credits;  three hrs/wk; MWF 1:30)

An introductory class on the reading and discussing of Chinese literary texts, with emphasis on modern fiction.

CHNS 313 Advanced Chinese Reading and Writing       Wann Ai-jen
(3 credits; three hrs/week; MWF 3:30)

This course is designed to develop reading and writing in Chinese at an advanced level. It is intended for students whose command of the language is a least equivalent to that attained in satisfactory completion of Chinese 302. Reading materials will be selected from modern social and cultural studies, including a variety of literary texts. Instructor's consent required.

CHNS 490C (280) Introduction to Chinese Culture and Civilization    Alice Wang
(3 credits; three hrs/week; TTh 10:30-11:45)

Survey of Chinese civilization and culture. Focus of the course may vary with each semester. Readings are in ENGLISH.

CHNS 594D/H Early Chinese Fiction              Professor Hsieh
(3 credits; three hours/wk TTh 1:30-2:45)
Classical Chinese tales and short stories (Ö¾¹Ö and ´«Ææ) from the Tang and earlier. Texts and assignments will be in Chinese.
