Parents and Families

Mary Kraemer

Dear Parents and Students:

Time has passed quickly since we too were in your shoes looking for that "perfect fit" with my daughter Amanda (AJ).   Overwhelmed by SAT, ACT,  AP tests, applications, and deadlines we began the college search not sure where our final destination would be.

Coming from Massachusetts, AJ chose to look beyond the East Coast for a college.  She wanted it all....a big school, to be academically challenged, where
athletics played a part of student life, where involvement in the world community was active, where personal and academic opportunities were available, a top rated faculty, and state of the art facility all contained in a friendly, welcoming campus.   SHE WANTED IT ALL!!!!!

As parents we began adding to her check list and started searching for a safe place which could happily be called "home" for her undergraduate years.  After many campus tours, brochures, and applications, we slowly narrowed the search down.  Purdue University was it.  The way she felt welcome by the students and faculty, the academic opportunities, the big campus with the red brick buildings, the Boilermaker Big 10 athletics, the chicken nuggets in the dining hall…it was this and more.   We found the "perfect fit".

As a student in the College of Liberal Arts, AJ has had the opportunity to meet weekly with Purdue's President in the Presidential Leadership Class, be a member of the Deans Ambassador Program, experience Greek life as a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority to name a few things.   She continues to tutor student athletes, fundraise for various charity organizations throughout the greater Lafayette area, participate in grant funded research working with Purdue professors, and enjoy  Boilermaker athletics.

In December, AJ is graduating with Honors as a proud Boilermaker.  As a CLA student AJ has had the training, support, encouragement, and opportunity to build a solid foundation for her future.

The sticker on my car reads:

                Purdue Parents
Purdue Proud   (and I would add in)

                Purdue Thankful
