The College of Liberal Arts Administrative/Professional Staff Development Fund was established in 1994 to provide financial support to administrative/professional staff in the College of Liberal Arts for professional development activities. Competitions are held twice a year in October and in January.
Criteria and general guidelines appear in the next section followed by a copy of the announcement and application which you may download.
Guidelines
Administrative/professional staff may submit requests for up to $500 to be used to further their own professional development. The goal of this initiative is to assist Liberal Arts administrative/professional staff to develop skills that will prepare them to advance at Purdue and to perform their current duties more effectively. Funds requested may be used to defray costs associated with attending professional meetings or seminars, to participate in workshops, or to enroll in professionally oriented courses related to their employment responsibilities. * Requests for the purchase of institutional memberships in professional organizations, computer hardware or software, videotapes, books or journals, and other materials and equipment that would contribute to staff professional development are also appropriate. All full and part time administrative/professional staff in regular continuing appointments in the College of Liberal Arts are eligible to apply. The source of the awards is the college's gift funds.
Applicants should complete the attached form and submit the original and three copies to Associate Dean Joan Marshall in the Dean's Office by the due date noted on the application. A three-person committee, including one member of the Dean's Office staff and two administrative/professional staff members in the college, will review and rank the proposals. Their recommendations will be submitted to the Dean for final decision regarding funding. Only one proposal per staff member may be submitted for each competition. Preference will be given to staff members who have received no previous awards.
* We may have some difficulty funding requests for credit and non credit courses; these requests will need to be reviewed on a case by case basis.
