Miyoung
Hong joins the College of Liberal Arts as an assistant professor of Interior
Design in the Department of Art and Design while completing her PhD in Design,
Environment and the Arts from Arizona State University. She received her
bachelor and master degrees in interior design from Oklahoma State University.
Hong won a dissertation fellowship in 2012 from Arizona State University and is
examining the impact of Florence Nightingale’s theory of patient-centered
design upon the evolving healthcare/healing environment in Arizona. Her
research focuses on user-centered design, healthcare/healing interior
environment, and evidence-based design process to create environments for
people’s well-being. Other interests include Alzheimer’s disease,
baby-boomers, environmental psychology, cultural influences in healthcare
settings, and evolution of nursing stations.
