ATTENTION ALL INDIANA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
2008 CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST
AWARDS IN ESSAY, SHORT STORY, OR POETRY
First Place - $50

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES (Open to all students attending high school in Indiana):
- Teachers should not submit the work of an entire class, although multiple student entries can be sent in a single envelope.
- Label each entry indicating category (essay, short story, or poetry).
- Send one essay (any topic; not more than 1,200 words), one short story, and/or up to three poems per contestant.
- Entries (unsigned) should be typed double-spaced, and pages numbered.
- Cover sheet alone should provide identifying information:
a. Contestant's name
b. Category and title of essay, short story, or poems
c. Contestant's home address and phone number and e-mail
d. School's address and phone number
e. Grade level
f. Teacher's first and last name and email - Entries should be mailed First Class
- Enclose a signed note from the teacher verifying student authorship and originality.
CONTESTANTS SHOULD RETAIN A COPY OF EACH ENTRY. ENTRIES WILL NOT BE RETURNED.
Because we receive so many entries, only winners will be notified. Those students receiving awards and their teachers will be contacted by mail. Awards will be presented at the Literary Awards Banquet featuring Pulitzer Prize winning fiction writer Michael Chabon at Purdue University on April 15, 2008.
Manuscripts MUST be postmarked by February 2008. Mail entries to the following address:
