Experience

Professor Rochon brings both professional television production and teaching experience to her position at Purdue. She produced news and special programming at the CBS affiliate in the sixth largest market in the nation, Boston, Massachusetts. During that period, she garnered two regional Emmy awards for her shows. She created and co-hosted a talk show on public television for Xavier University in New Orleans. In addition, she had taught more fifteen years at the college level (Xavier, Dillard and Penn State Universities) and served as Chair, Department of Mass Communications at Dillard University, New Orleans, LA.

Professional Activity and Interests

Television News: Professor Rochon created and produces Fast Track, the weekly video newsmagazine by and about Purdue students. The newsmagazine provides an opportunity for students to develop their television skills in a professionally oriented production environment. www.cla.purdue.edu/communication/fasttrack

Health Communication: Professor Rochon served as executive producer of a series of 10 promotional videos for the Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering (RCHE). They are available on the RCHE website. http://discoverypark.purdue.edu/wps/portal/rche

Service Learning: Professor Rochon is committed to a partnership between the university and the community and she has enabled numerous student groups to obtain and successfully complete service learning projects. She also received a Service Learning grant to help students include news stories about non-profit agencies and community service opportunities in the Lafayette area on the Fast Track newsmagazine. She currently serves as the Big Ten Network Internship Coordinator for Purdue and Faculty Advisor for the Alpha Kappa Delta Phi Sorority.
