A photo notebook of our Olympic experience
Lining the BMX course during training . All volunteers were dubbed the "Blue Army"

Ready to interview athletes leaving the race course. It was intense work
Lauren Harrington, left, and Andrea Thomas try to mimic the Peking Opera performers after a special performance for volunteers

We were frequently stopped and asked to have our pictures made with young children, especially. Shown: Traci Gillig
The subway was the most efficient (and hottest) way to navigate Beijing

In a city of 17 million people, you can imagine we got lost ... a lot
We fell in love with the official Olympic mascot, Fuwas, or friends

We got to see all the great historic Chinese sites, including this shot at the Forbidden City
Traveling as the locals do it (it's very scary)

We made new friends we will stay in touch with
The ice cream in China was amazing. But unusual sometimes, like this corn-flavored popsicle

We caught the Olympic spirit, decorating our dorm rooms and watching events on TV
We drank a lot of tea

And ate a lot of food we'd never had before
Olympics spectators: Many students used their days off to see Olympic events. Here, Kelsey Habig, left, Val Arias and Christina Harp are joined by two Chinese racing fans at the bicycling road race
