Making a Difference
In Spring 2007, a group in Assistant Professor Hyunyi Cho's COM353 class (Problems in Public Relations) was assigned to work with the West Lafayette Recycling Center. The center's biggest problem was how little its drop-off and curbside services were being utilized. According to group member Jen Fouts, the students focused most of their efforts on students living on or around campus. In April, in honor of Earth Day, the group set up a booth just next to the bell tower to hand out cans of soda, bottles of water, and literature discussing the importance of recycling and the convenience of the center. "It was a very successful event, and we are glad we were able to help with such a great cause in such a worthwhile class."
