About Serena Collage
Serena Collage is a web content management system (CMS). A web CMS is a software tool that allows someone with little or no familiarity with web programming to update information on a web site. A CMS may come in all varieties and offer different features, from a basic tool that allows only certain types of updates, to a more complex system with multiple access levels, version control, workflows, customizable templates, and advanced formatting. 
Collage was developed by Serena Software, Inc. and is one of many commercial CMS products available today. Purdue chose it for its high level of customization and flexibility, and its large support framework. It offers all the functionality of a high-end CMS solution including all of the features listed above.
Compared to our current CMS which some sites are using now, Collage is a huge improvement. It puts more control in the hands of the content owners than they've had before, from creating and deleting pages to page layout and formatting options.
Compared to a Dreamweaver or FrontPage solution, Collage is a simpler interface that avoids many of the problems with the more complex software application. Users are able to focus on content without worrying about connections to the web server, synchronizing updated files, or interfering with template code.
