"House and Household in Ancient Athens"
Presented by Barbara Tsakirgis, Professor of Classical Archaeology
Vanderbilt University
Tuesday, March 9, 2009
7:30-9:00 p.m., Matthews Hall, Room 210
Dr. Tsakirgis explores some of the houses excavated in Athens and the Athenian literary sources that mention or describe houses. She reconciles these seemingly contradictory sources by explaining the prescriptive nature of the textual sources and the real accommodations for daily life that were actually built in Classical Athens.
