Charlie Lowe ponders whether or not blogs will become the next email or IM craze for college students. I personally wonder if blogs can ever reach that level if students see them as being educational tools. I also wonder if something that is not synchronous can ever have the same level of immediate gratification that one gets from IM. Most of the complaints that I hear from students about blogs is the permenance of the medium. Students worry about accountability when their words are made public and "permanent" on the Web.

Carolyn Heilbrun Dies at 77
Feminist scholar and mystery writer (Amanda Cross) dies at 77 in an apparent suicide.

Carolyn G. Heilbrun, a well-known feminist scholar who retired from Columbia University in 1992, died last week, apparently by suicide.

"She wanted to control her destiny," her son, Robert, told The New York Times, adding that Ms. Heilbrun, who was 77, had not been ill. "She felt her life was a journey that had concluded."
