Dean's Advisory Council
- Purpose
The Dean's Advisory Council in the College of Liberal Arts consults with and advises the Dean and the Dean's staff on matters relating to the College, including issues concerning undergraduate and graduate education, and development issues. The Council's input is advisory only but is important to the Dean and the College to fulfill our academic mission.
- Membership
The Advisory Council consists of at least eight individuals selected to serve by the Dean of the College. These persons are selected based upon their ability and willingness to provide leadership, contribute financially, and provide necessary linkages with others who are able to provide leadership and financial support to the College of Liberal Arts. They provide a strong connection between the real world and the campus environment. Members of the Dean's Advisory Council bring a diverse range of liberal arts degree backgrounds and professional experiences, thereby allowing for a broad scope of focus and mutual interest. Membership on the Dean's Advisory Council is not limited to alumni/alumnae of the College. The College of Liberal Arts Alumni Board president represents the Alumni Board on the Advisory Council, and the vice chairperson of the Liberal Arts Faculty Senate also serves as a member of the Council. Members are asked to serve a two-year term with a possibility of a reappointment for as many as three two-year terms.
- Meetings
The Council meets semi-annually: once in early fall and once in the spring. Meetings are normally held on the West Lafayette campus of Purdue University. The College of Liberal Arts development officers, working closely with the dean, organize and are responsible for the meetings of the Dean's Advisory Council.
