Switching to Liberal Arts from Another College

Students who are switching to a degree program in College of Liberal Arts (CLA) from another college at Purdue or who are Undecided as a major are required to attend a CODO meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to acquaint students with course offerings and degree requirements for CLA or an intended major.

Student Responsibilities: Please follow these steps.

  1. Sign up for CLA CODO meeting at reception desk in BRNG 1114.  CODO Meeting Schedule for fALL 2011.      
  2. Review the CODO website in myPurdue under the Resources Tab, Academic Success – click on link "Advisors and CODO Requirements". This will bring you to the following link: http://www.purdue.edu/registrar/Registration%20%26%20Records/CODOs.html   
  3. Review information and follow directions to obtain your CODO papers.
  4. Take your CODO papers to your CURRENT advisor to get “signed out” of your CURRENT college or school.
  5. Bring plan(s) of study with coursework completed and grades to the CLA meeting. Put your name on the plan(s) of study. The plan(s) of study will be placed in your CLA advising folder. 
  6. Bring your CODO papers to the College of Liberal Arts meeting.

NOTE: YOU MUST ATTEND A CLA CODO INFORMATION MEETING AND HAVE YOUR CODO PAPERS AND INTENDED PLAN OF STUDY SUBMITTED BEFORE BEING ELIGIBLE TO CODO AND TO REGISTER FOR THE NEXT SEMESTER.

Students who want to pursue a Liberal Arts major

 Majors website   http://www.cla.purdue.edu/academics/programs/majors/

  1. DOWNLOAD your intended major plan of study. Check off your completed course requirements by listing your grade. Put your name and date on the plan of study. This plan of study will be placed in your CLA advising folder.
  2. DOWNLOAD the CLA Core and circle the courses that you have completed with a passing grade.

Students who are Undecided Liberal Arts major

  1. DOWNLOAD your intended major(s) plan of study that interest you.  Check off your completed course requirements by listing your grade. Put your name and date on the plan(s) of study. The plan(s) of study will be placed in your CLA advising folder.
  2. DOWNLOAD the CLA Core and circle the courses that you have completed with a passing grade.

Students who are “temporarily” switching to Liberal Arts who do not plan to pursue a Liberal Arts Major, but plan to CODO to another college at Purdue 

Purdue Majors:  http://admissions.purdue.edu/Majors_Programs/majors.php

  1. Download Plan of Study/Option Sheet/ Program Requirements/Major Sheets for your intended major.  You will be considered a NON–Liberal Arts Undecided major (NLAU).
  2. Check off your grades for the classes you have completed on your intended major plan of study by listing your grade.
  3. Use the GPA Calculator:  http://www.cla.purdue.edu/academics/requirements/codo/calculator.html  to determine what type of grades you will need if your academic program requires a specific gpa.
  4. Attend a CODO meeting at your intended college or meet with an advisor in your intended college to confirm your eligibility to actually enter their program.
  5. At the CLA CODO meeting you will sign the CODO Contract which states that you have one calendar year to meet the requirements to CODO to your intended college/school.

Remember: Bring your completed plan(s) of study and/or program requirements(s) with completed coursework and grades to the CODO meeting.
