Public Health Promotion
Health Promotion is designed to prepare students interested in providing health promotion, communication, and education experiences to people in a wide variety of settings. Many employers, in both the private and public sectors, are increasingly aware that a healthy employee also is a more productive employee and that many employee illnesses and medical costs are preventable. Courses include basic health studies, nutrition, health psychology, substance abuse, community health promotion, health behavior, and health promotion planning and evaluation. An internship in a worksite, clinical, community, or government setting is part of the curriculum. If desired, students can pursue a credential as a Certified Health Education Specialist.
