HONR 39900: The Wonders of Venice
Venice, Italy
Fall 2009, 2010

The College of Liberal Arts Honors Program has collaborated with the University Honors Program to create a new Honors Only Study Abroad program in Venice, Italy. It is available to all Purdue Honors students during the Fall semesters of 2009 and 2010. For more information about the course content and instructors, please see the Wonders of Venice Website and Blog.

How this works with my academic program:

The 15 credit hour semester will provide Liberal Arts students with the following 12 credits of substitutions for Liberal Arts Core requirements:

"Venice, Flesh & Stone" (3 cr. Art & Architecture) = Aesthetic Awareness
"Imagining Italy: Literary Travelers" (3 cr. Literature) = Global Perspectives
"The Daily Life of Venice and its People" (3 cr. Sociology) = Other Cultures
"La Serenissima: the Myth & its History" (3 cr. History) = Western Heritage
The 3-credit beginning Italian language course will count as elective credits unless the student continues to study Italian through ITAL 20200.

In total, students receive 3 credits of Honors coursework at the 10000-level, and 12 credits of Honors at the 30000-level. This leaves only 9 credits of Honors to complete the Honors Program requirements.
