Other Information

May I transfer credit from an Honors Program in another College at Purdue?

Yes.  Students may transfer up to nine hours of honors credit from another Honors Program at the discretion of the Director of the Honors Program.

Students interested in such an arrangement should contact the Director as early as possible.

Can I leave the University for a period to explore a special opportunity, such as Study Abroad, without jeopardizing my progress in the Honors Program?

Yes.  As long as you maintain the overall GPA requirements for Honors students, you may resume your work in Honors at any time. However, it is always best to consult with the Honors Office if you are planning to leave the university for a period. The Honors Office may be able to suggest specific ways for you to continue Honors work during your absence. In recent years, we have also been able to assist in arranging for Honors credit for study undertaken abroad. Such arrangements involve professors here, so a reasonable amount of time should be allowed to make the necessary arrangements before you leave the country. In general, such arrangements need to be complete by the end of the semester before you begin your studies abroad.

Who can advise me on matters concerning my Honors activities?

Your Counselor can describe the basic features of the Honors Program and provide you with a list of Honors courses offered each semester.

The best way to obtain comprehensive information about the Honors Program is to drop by the Honors Office regularly. The Honors Office can also offer you information about a wide range of special opportunities and awards on and off campus. Students are also encouraged to visit directly with professors in whose Honors courses they wish to enroll.

Where can I go to get answers to other questions about the Honors Program?

The ideal way to get answers is to inquire at the Honors Office. If you would like to set up an appointment, you may do so either in person or over the phone (496-3235). All of us in the Honors Office will be happy to answer your questions and explain more about the special benefits and opportunities available through the Honors Program.   You can also e-mail us.   Office Staff
