Honors Program
Application Form
College of Liberal Arts students may apply to the CLA Honors Program at any time during their undergraduate academic program. Applications are due the Friday of the second week of classes every semester and will be processed in time for the next registration period. The CLA Honors Program requires a minimum cumulative Purdue GPA of 3.3/4.0 to apply. For information about the requirements for graduating with CLA Honors, please refer to the Program Guidelines.
Honors Program members are eligible for the following benefits:
- Honors Merit Scholarships
- Free tickets to Purdue Convocations shows
- "College of Liberal Arts Honors" notation on transcript
Application Requirements
- Enrollment in the College of Liberal Arts
- Completion of one semester at Purdue University, West Lafayette.
- An overall minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.3/4.0.
- Essay responses that reflect skills in critical thinking and written expression.
Advice to Applicants
After logging into the CLA Honors Program Application, please be aware that you will only have 30 minutes to submit the application. The application consists of two sections: General Information and Essay Prompts. The General Information section consists of questions pertaining to the applicant’s student status at Purdue. The Essay section consists of three 500 word maximum essay responses along with a fourth optional essay response. The CLA Honors Program staff encourages all applicants to review the essay prompts below before starting the application.
- Essay Question 1: Consider the books you have read in the last year or two either for school or for leisure. Please discuss the way in which one of them has changed your understanding of the world, other people, or yourself.
- Essay Question 2: What are you passionate about and why?
- Essay Question 3: Tell us about a time when you encountered a new idea that challenged what you previously believed or thought. What has been your response to that challenge?
- Essay Question 4: Is there anything else that you believe the CLA Honors Program staff should take into account when reviewing your application? (OPTIONAL)
