Richard Sullivan Lee’s 30-year professional stage career has spanned
both coasts. His acting credits include A Contemporary Theatre in
Seattle, The New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, The Riverside Shakespeare
Company in New York City, as well as numerous appearances at regional
theatres throughout the Midwest. He has acted on the Purdue stage in
Six
Degrees of Separation, College Widow, King Lear, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,
The Time of Your Life, Three Sisters, Romeo and Juliet, The Passion of
Dracula, As You Like It, and
Tartuffe. Prior to joining
the Purdue faculty in 1992, he spent seven years in Chicago performing
in a variety of television commercials (from Folgers Coffee to Pepto
Bismol), industrial films, and feature films. His directing credits
include Off-Off Broadway productions in New York City, The Equity
Library Theatre in Chicago, The Old Creamery Theatre and Barn Dinner
Theatre both in Iowa, and guest director spots including Mount Mercy
College and Virginia Tech Summer Theatre. His Purdue directing credits
include
Arms and the Man, Buried Child, Bus Stop, The Real Inspector Hound, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, The Serpent, Our Town, and
Fuddy Meers.
In addition to performing and directing, he has been on the faculty of
Virginia Tech and Virginia Commonwealth University, has had guest
artist contracts in a variety of college settings, and taught acting
classes and on-camera commercial techniques at Act One Studios in
Chicago. Richard is a member of Actors Equity Association, American
Federation of Television and Radio Artists and Screen Actors Guild.
