With over 100 credits in theatre, opera, television, concerts,
industrials, and trade shows, Russ Jones’s noteworthy assignments
include his concert designs for Ben Vereen and Mel Torme. Russ was
awarded Chicago’s Joseph Jefferson Citation for Outstanding Achievement
in Scenic Design for
Noises Off at Pegasus Players. Russ is on
the executive committee and serves as Chair of Design and Technology
for Region III of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.
He was awarded the national scenic design fellowship for the KCACTF
Summer Design Intensives, working with noted designer/master teacher
Ming Cho Lee at the Kennedy Center in 2004. He recently designed the
new performance space for ComedySportz Chicago. Current projects
include the set designs for
The Nutcracker ballet and a world
premiere opera based on the early life of Abraham Lincoln, both for
companies in Kentucky. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in stage
design from Northwestern University.
