In addition to her scholarly endeavors, Dr. Fliotsos enjoys directing,
performing, and creating theatre. She has two awards (for direction and
play script) from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival
for her work on
Oedipus! A New Musical Comedy, which was published and produced in New York. She has published research in
Theatre Topics, Studies in Popular Culture, The Journal of American Culture, American Theatre,
and Research in Drama Education. In 2006 Dr. Fliotsos won the George Whately Award for best journal article in
Studies in Popular Culture. Her books include
Teaching Theatre Today (Palgrave Macmillan, 2004) and
Women Stage Directors of the 20th Century (U of IL, 2008), and she has contributed to several other books.
