Sally Wallace, associate professor and co-artistic director 
of the Purdue Repertory Dance Company, received her M.F.A. 
from Case Western Reserve University in 1992, and her M.A. 
from Texas Woman's University in 1988. Her focus as an artist 
is most represented in choreography and performed improvisation.
           In 1995 Sally's work "Above Water" was recognized by the
American College Dance Festival and received Gala honor, and in 
1998 her work "Tides and solitude" received the Gala honor as it 
was performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. "Tides 
and solitude" has since been commissioned by the Opening Door 
Dance Company in San Marcus, Texas and Youth at Risk Dancing 
(YARD) in Cleveland, OH, and Dallas and Austin, Texas. Sally's 
current focus in performed improvisation developed into a written 
work on techniques for performing. Sally received a Purdue Faculty 
Grant to create this work and was invited by Congress on Research 
in Dance to deliver her paper at the 1997 conference. Sally's 
improvisational performance group has performed in Chicago, New York, 
Texas, Cleveland and Arizona.
