passionate about, a subject that truly drives me to be an agent of change and activism.

Activist cause: Reproductive Rights
What are you planning to do with your degree?: Upon graduation from Purdue, I plan to continue my education and receive my Master's degree in Women's and Gender Studies--my ultimate plan is to be a Women's Studies professor at a major university.
Jaclyn Tabor
Major(s): Sociology, Women's Studies
Minor(s): English, Global Studies
Why Women's Studies?: I majored in Women's Studies because I am interested in how gender affects every facet of life. Women's studies explores intersections among sexism,
racism, homophobia, colonization, and other forms of oppression, an understanding which is necessary to create a just world.
Feminist mentor/role model: While I love reading Nawal El Saadawi, Filomina Steady, and bell hooks, I have been most inspired by the everyday women participating in protests and organizations such as RAWA, SEWA, and the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo.
Activist cause: Reproductive rights, GLBT rights, Affordable healthcare
What are you planning to do with your degree?: Attending graduate school for a PhD in Sociology. My areas of interest will be gender, social movements, family, and political sociology.
