Author of Reconfigurations: Critical Theory and General Economy; In the Shadow of Hegel; Complementarity: Anti-Epistemology After Bohr and Derrida; The Knowable and the Unknowable: Modern Science, Nonclassical Thought, and the "Two Cultures;" and co-editor (with B. H. Smith) of Mathematics, Science, and Postclassical Theory and (with Tilottama Rajan) Idealism Without Absolutes: Philosophy and Romantic Culture. His new book Reading Bohr: Physics and Philosophy is forthcoming in 2006. He is currently at work on two books: Minute Particulars: Chaos and Thought in British Romanticism and Information and Singularity: Rethinking the Nature of Knowledge in Science, Philosophy and Culture.
