I currently teach HIST 104, the History of the Modern World, as well as courses examining European imperialism and decolonization. A native New Yorker, I received my Ph.D. and M.A. in Modern Western European History from Columbia University, and my B.A. in anthropology from Fordham University. I have also studied at both the University of Amsterdam and the University of Helsinki.

At present, I am working on a manuscript entitled The Kingdom Shall Rise Again: Dutch Resistance, Collaboration, and Imperial Planning in the Nazi-Occupied Netherlands. This work examines Dutch experiences with war, occupation, imperialism, decolonization, specifically focusing upon the attempts of leading anti-Nazi resisters to create a new “imperial consciousness” in the wartime Netherlands.

I will not be teaching classes this spring, as I will spend January-May 2008 in residence at the Remarque Institute of New York University.
