Undergraduate
The undergraduate program in Comparative Literature exposes students to a breadth of world literatures while offering them the opportunity to study literatures in two languages and gain a working knowledge of a third. The small size of the program ensures that students receive individual attention from advisors. The three introductory courses, Introduction to Comparative Literature, World Literature: From the Beginning to 1700 A.D., and World Literature: 1700 to the Present, give students a base upon which to build their studies. Undergraduates gain context and the ability to work across disciplines, and also focus on the literature of a particular language or region. This approach gives students the background to deal with a variety of intellectual challenges from a number of languages and cultures, and prepares them for many different careers.
