Students interested in health promotion enjoy professional opportunities serving a variety of populations. Perhaps the most visible new opportunities are in corporate/worksite settings or are clinically related (hospitals, health maintenance organizations, and sports medicine centers). For example, employers are increasingly aware that a healthy employee is also a more productive employee, and that many employee illnesses and medical costs are preventable. Many programs and opportunities are also available in the private sector (health clubs, fitness chains, and private health promotion/fitness businesses), community agencies (municipal parks and recreation, YMCA/YWCAs, voluntary health agencies), as well as government (local, state and federal health agencies, military, and law enforcement).
