Research Interests:

Dr. Okoror’s work focuses on the role of culture in health. She is interested in the influence of culture in health decisions and behaviors, specifically sexual health and disease prevention. She explores how these decisions and behaviors are further impacted by historical, social and political contexts. Her research interests include HIV/AIDS, Sexual Health, Minority Health and Health Disparities. She works with minority populations in the U.S., and is also involved in international research on HIV/AIDS, with the goal of designing, implementing and evaluating culturally appropriate health prevention and intervention programs. Dr. Okoror has examined cultural influences in a variety of populations including youths, adults and special populations, such as people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).
