Literary Awards

The DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH and PURDUE UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES are pleased to announce that Pultizer Prize winning fiction writer Michael Chabon will be the speaker for the 2008 Literary Awards Banquet on April 15.

The following events are planned:

April 10, 4:00 p.m. - Pre-program on Michael Chabon, Collaborative Study Center, HSSE Library.  This program will entail an overview of Chabon's biography and Jewish identity, discussion of his graphic novels, viewing of a clip from his film Wonder Boys, and a short reading of his work. (Sponsored by the HSSE Library)

April 15, 4:30 p.m - Literary Awards pre-dinner reception, Anniversary Drawing Room, Purdue Memorial Union.  (included with the ticket price for the banquet)

April 15, 5:30 pm - Literary Awards Banquet, North Ballroom, Purdue Memorial Union.  The Banquet includes dinner, the Literary Awards ceremony and remarks from Michael Chabon about the creative process. All award recipients will receive complimentary tickets. Other tickets ($15 students/$25 adults) must be purchased before 5 p.m., April 9 in Room 324, Heavilon Hall on the Purdue Campus, or call the English Department at (765) 494-3740.
