Professor White is the
director of Purdue’s interdisciplinary program in Medieval and Renaissance studies. He specializes in early English theatre with particular attention to religion, sexuality, and cultural issues.
His publications include Drama and Religion in English Provincial Society, 1475-1660 (Cambridge UP, 2008),
Theatre and Reformation: Protestantism, Patronage, and Playing in Tudor England (Cambridge UP, 1993);
Marlowe, History, and Sexuality: New Criticial Essays on Christopher Marlowe (AMS, 1998), which he edited for the Marlowe Society of America; and
Shakespeare and Theatrical Patronage in Early Modern England (Cambridge UP, 2002), co-edited with Suzanne R. Westfall.
