Dorothy Deering is an associate professor of English, with specialization in nineteenth- and twentieth-century British literature with an emphasis on poetry and non-fiction prose. She is a member of Purdue's Women's Studies faculty. Her publications include
The Waterloo Directory of Victorian Periodicals (jointedly edited), and a variety of articles and reviews on Clough, Arnold, Dickens, John Stuart Mill, Studs Terkel in journals such as
Victorian Poetry,
Victorian Studies,
Victorian Periodical Review, and
Modern Fiction Studies. Professor Deering teaches undergraduate courses on the Bible as literature, Nobel Prize Winners in literature, East-West Dialogue, Literature and Imperialism, nineteenth- and twentieth-century British literature, South-Asian literature, and world literature ancient and modern. She has taught graduate courses in Victorian literature.
