Kevin Vicroy calls it one of those typical college student days. He was in a computer lab on the Purdue campus, putting off doing his actual homework.
"I was easily distracted. I picked up an HTML programming guide. I spent the afternoon creating a Purdue baseball team Web site. It became evident that Web design was a field that I wanted to pursue."
And pursue he has. Vicroy, B.A., 1996, started his own Web site design company, 720Media, in 2000 and has received several awards, including 2005 Best Web Design Firm in Colorado Springs, Colo.
He uses his prior experience in Web design, including his role as Internet & Interactive Media Manager for the 2000 U.S. Olympic Committee, to create unique sites for people, companies and organizations.
Native American pro golfer Notah Begay III is one of 720Media's most known customers. 720Media also designed a site for the New York chapter of NFL Alumni.
"Notah wanted a space online where his fans and sponsors could read about his playing schedule and his many philanthropic endeavors," Vicroy said. "We are very proud of Notah.com and heard through Notah's agent that a PGA Tour staff member said Notah's site was one of the best among the Tour players."
When Vicroy first started his company, he and wife Taa Dixon took every client that came their way. Through experience, they realized that wouldn't work.
"720MEDIA is a boutique-style Web firm and simply doesn't have the resources to take on every project that comes our way," said Vicroy. "More importantly, not all clients are a good fit. I've been forced to work with people on projects that I didn't really enjoy. We love our clients, and I am confident in saying that they enjoy working with 720Media."
