HR Manager for ExxonMobil Advises
Grad Students on Job Search and Careers

Alumnus W.T. "Bill" Wigglesworth, human resources manager for ExxonMobil Development Co., returned to Purdue this semester to advise graduate students seeking non-academic jobs.

Wigglesworth answers questions after his presentation to faculty and staff

Wigglesworth discussed the major steps in the job search process: developing a resumé, searching, interviewing and following up.

"Having the chance to talk to Bill at the reception Thursday evening and then attend his talk on Friday afternoon was extremely helpful to those of us who are facing a job search this semester," said M.A. candidate Summer Dohm. "Just knowing that a Communication major can sell themselves and their skills to this country's largest corporations is heartening."

"He offered 'real world' information that you don't often hear concerning resumés and interviewing," said M.A. candidate Brooke Wilson. "His personal stories, such as how he got his first job at Exxon, made the presentation interesting and informational."

Wigglesworth, M.A., joined Exxon Co. in 1979.
