Fred Jablin, Ph.D., 1977, was killed Oct. 30 at his home in Richmond, Va. Jablin was a professor and E. Claiborne Robins Distinguished Chair of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond. A memorial service was held Nov. 8 at the university and more information will be available at the university's Web page. |

Grove at his White House office |
Justin Grove, B.A., 1997, was sworn in as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves in December 2003 in a private ceremony inside the White House. Grove serves as a reservist in the Navy Chaplain Corps and is currently a full-time seminary student earning a Master's in Divinity degree while also working at the White House full time.
Grove serves as an associate director in the Office of Presidential Correspondence. "I apply the communication theories learned at Purdue on a daily basis at the White House and as an officer in the Navy," he said.

Alumnus Leonard Cox, B.A., 1979, from New York, N.Y, an award-winning documentary filmmaker and leading consultant, returned to campus in October to present a colloquium on obtaining a non-academic job for graduate students.
Currently, Cox is the co-owner of River Films Inc., an independent documentary film production company, and a partner with the Michael Cohen Group, LLC, which is a media and organizational communications consulting firm. His clients at the Cohen group include Lifetime Television, Sesame Workshop, and Disney.

A department alumnus was one of the 10 prominent leaders in their fields who took part in Purdue University's 2004 Old Master's program Nov. 7-9.
J. Russell "Rusty" Rueff Jr., who holds a bachelor's degree in communication and a master's degree in counseling from Purdue, is executive vice president of human resources at Electronic Arts, the Redwood City, Calif.-based game developer and publisher.
The Old Master's program is an annual tradition that gives students the opportunity to interact with men and women who have risen to the top of their career fields. |
