Steve Wilson, professor, received the Knower Award from the Interpersonal Communication Division of the National Communication Association for the most significant article published in the last five years, titled "Identity Implications of Influence Goals," which he co-authored with Carlos Aleman and Geoff Leatham. Patrice Buzzanell, associate professor, received the 2002 Feminist Teacher/Mentor Award from the Organization for the Study of Communication, Language, and Gender. John Greene, professor, received the Gerald R. Miller Outstanding Book Award from the Interpersonal Communication Division of the National Communication Association at NCA's annual convention in New Orleans in November. John Greene, professor, was named the "Cecil and Ida Green Honors Professor" in the Department of Speech Communication at Texas Christian University for the 2002-2003 academic year. Bill Rawlins, professor, the "Theory Has Left a Legacy" award from the Communication Theory Interest Group of the Central States Communication Association. Felicia Roberts, assistant professor, a Dean's Incentive Grant for "Mediated Interpersonal Communication: Undergraduate Curriculum Development." Glenn Sparks, professor, a Dean's Incentive Grant for "Video Converter Equipment for Preparation of Experimental Stimuli." Cindy Conn and Cristina Gilstrap, Ph.D. students, won the 2002-2003 Bruce Kendall Award for Excellence in Teaching by a Graduate Student. Mihaela (Mickey) Vorvoreanu received an Honorable Mention. Carl Botan, associate professor, has been inducted into the Department of Communication's Alumni Academy at Western Michigan University. Brant Burleson, professor, received a Top Paper Award from the Interpersonal Communication Division of the National Communication Association with co-author Steven Mortenson. Terri Russ, Ph.D. student, Top Three Paper award from the Ethnography Division of the National Communication Association.. Kristen Lucas, Ph.D. student, was awarded the department's W. Charles Redding Graduate Fellowship for 2002-2003. Amy O'Connor, Ph. D. student, was awarded a Purdue Research Foundation Research Grant for the 2002-2003 academic year. Her proposal is titled "Corporate Compassion vs. Public Perception: A Test of the Persuasive Effects of Corporate Values Advocacy Messages." Mihaela Vorvoreanu, Ph.D. student, was awarded the Puskas Memorial Fellowship, a 12-month competitive fellowship awarded to Romanian students at Purdue. Damion Waymer, M.A. student, received the H.H.
