Artist Statement
Zone Paraiso Montoya
On how my photography relates to being a lesbian photographer: First of all I do advertise myself as a lesbian photographer hoping that gay folks will hire me. In terms of my work, I love portraiture, I really enjoy taking someone's picture. But what I'm trying to do is to take it beyond, try to capture that special moment, a glance, an emotion. I'm also trying to figure out my style, so when you look at a picture I've taken you know it's my work, (that sounds so pretentious, but I don't mean to be pretentious). This to me is very difficult. Maybe I shouldn't worry so much about it and it will come in time. I just get a little impatient.
