Artist StatementThe principal source of my lesbian photographic images has been at nightclub events produced by Page Hodel in San Francisco. Since 1989, I have produced over 20,000 photographs of lesbians, which have been printed on fliers, posters, and advertisements. The images have had such high visibility, that once someone told me my work defines what our community looks like. A small collection of these photographs, "Atkins: Girls' Night Out," is now available at your favorite bookstore. Additionally, I am producing a series of Drag King photographs, to indulge my fascination with women cross-dressed as men. Prints are 20 x 24 inches.
A photographic study of Lesbian Athletes is a current project that will take me to the Gay Games in Amsterdam in August 1998.
